June 2006....Wedding Day.
 |
I had to put this
picture in the prime spot, even though I
took it myself. My son David married his
long-time girlfriend Sarah in Lewes,
Sussex on 24 June, and the guest
transport at the event was very kindly
(and brilliantly !) provided by Roger
Wortley with his ex Jones of Aberbeeg
Tiger Cub, 889 AAX.
The picture shows the
bus having arrived at the reception
venue with guests, and the inset shows
the happy couple.
My sincere thanks to
Roger and his driver for a faultless
performance in a delightfully-decorated
bus, which was much appreciated and
enjoyed by those who travelled in it. A
great day, which we will all remember
for ever. Oh - and congratulations to
David & Sarah !

February 2006....Not a
very good start to the year.

The start to the year was not a good
one. Time dragged on in respect of the
repairs to the Bus. It was late in
February, that I finally got the go
ahead to have the work done. We had to
cover the back end of the Bus with a
plastic sheet to stop the birds, dust
and bad weather getting in. As a result,
other work was delayed. Once we got the
Bus back, it was a race to get it ready
for the first Rally of the year, March
25th.
On that day, we did free rides out in
the Bus, covering about 6 miles at a
time and carried a total of 80 people
during the course of the Rally. The next
Event, the first Sunday in April, was
Cobham, in Surrey. That was the start of
the Rally Season, about 120 Buses on
display. It absolutely poured down with
rain for most of the morning, but
improved during the afternoon. We met up
with a crowd of Bus Anoraks from the
Cardiff Trolleybus Club, there, who came
down by Stagecoach, Wales.
The
MOT was on the 14th. of
April. It passed again first time,
which was a relief. On April 22nd,
we did a Wedding for a couple of
Friends. The Bus looked great. The
inside was decked out with ribbons,
flowers and balloons. The reception was
held in a Café, and we ( 30 0f us ) had
Bangers & Mash, onions and side salad !
The Wedding Cake was made to look like
the Bus ! Very nice !
The following week-end, we had a two day
Festival of Transport in our home town
of Eastbourne, on the sea front. It
rained again. Our next Rally, will be
May 21st at Hastings.
Hopefully, it should be a sunny day. We
have got two more Weddings planned , one
in June and one in October.
