On September 13th St Paul's Church Hall held a fete with a
difference. The Fete included all the fun of a normal Fete's, such as
stalls, face painting, hair spraying, raffles, games, and a Community
Barbecue. This Fete also included the official opening of the Courtyard Arts
Project, completed by the "Youth Club Members" |

Members of St Paul's Youth Club, which was founded two years
ago, have been hard at work on the mural to improve the courtyard outside the
parish hall where they meet. Overseen by two community artists from
Pontpool, their ideas have been transformed into a striking mixed-media montage
that does them proud. Featuring a design based on the Lake and hills at
Cwmtillery and incorporating a living cross design worked in willow, the art
work looks set to become a landmark in the area. It has been created with the
support of thr Prince's Trust the Welsh Development Agency and the Communities
First initiative. Father Peter King said "When we began some of the children
said they could not draw, but in the end more than 50 were involved. The result
speaks for itself, we have some very talented young people in Cwmtillery.South Wales Argus |

AM...Peter Law performed the official opening and was full of praise for the
work that has been done by the youth club members. "Cwmtillery has a special
atmosphere and this can be noticed in the way people have come together to
achive this marvellous piece of artwork" he said "The Church is extremely
fortunate to have Father Peter King here, he is a doer not a talker, and I
congratulate him and all those associated with him - especially the youth
club".

"The Communities First"
Wishing Well. No water in this well....Just good ideas from the
Community. The idea of the Wishing Well is to let the Community suggest
improvments they would like to see in the area. From a new roller skating rink,
to a new modern building for the youth club, all suggestion are taken away and
disgussed by the committee of the Community First Partnership. |
