Cheryl along with 3 others, Dave Edwards, Jayne Medlicott and
Pat Perrett are this years winner of the Gwent gazette "New Years Honours
Competition", all receiving a special Gwent Gazette silver plates and a cash
prize, WELL DONE. I'll leave you with Cheryl's own words Thanks to
everyone who voted for me in the recent Gazette New Year Honours Award, even
though everyone who was nominated was more than worthy winners. This award is
not only for me, but more so for all our wonderful Gazette readers. Every week
when I made an appeal you were all ready to respond. Without you we would not
have sent over 300 knitted teddies to children in hospital in Romania, 200
chicks to Velindre hospital for their Easter eggs, and without all the bric a
brac you donated we would not have raised £650 for hospice of the
valleys. You brought your crisp packets in by the 100's for books for schools,
and flooded me with Tesco computers for schools vouchers. You have proved once
again what a wonderful caring lot you are. I have always said that when it
comes down to the nitty gritty, then the people of our small community are the
tops! So you see folks the real winners are YOU Without you none of this would
have been possible I only made the appeals; it was you that fulfilled them. So
from the bottom of my heart I would like to say a big thank you to you
all!
