Extreme Weather Conditions

Small landslide above West Bank Like the rest of the country, the last eight weeks has seen the valley battered by driving rain and high winds.
Culverts unable to deal with the torrent of water just overflowed, small rivers of water appeared throughout Hill Crest and Valley View.
Further up the valley, water overflowed the culverts on the side of the Mynydd James mountainside. The water flooded down onto roadways causing excessive surface water the whole length of West Bank. One of the many culvert cut into the Mynydd James Mountain Small rivulets appeared in the mountainside, in places I've never seen water running before, I might add. Our small graceful River Tyleri turned into a raging torrent of water as it poured into the Reservoir and Lake.

Outside the valley
Access to Cwm via Aberbeeg was impossible as the road was blocked by water at the former Marine Colliery site
Articulated vehicle over turned by high winds on the Brymawr to Blanaveon
A landslide on the A465 near Clydach blocked the main route between Brymawr and Abergavenny. The road was completely closed for nearly a week, after which one lane was opened while further work progressed.
