![]() At last have scanned in picture of my mother as seen in 1947 at Cock and Chick school. She is Maureen Roberts and is the one on the front row next to the shield. She can only remember one of the others that being Ian James who is on the other side of the shield. She remembers he lived by Knocks General store on Gaen Street and may have gone on to become a teacher. If anyone else recognises anyone let me know and I'll pass it on. ![]() The school photo above was taken at the 'cock and chicks' school in Cwmtillery in 1908. Lily May Cockayne, was 6 years old, born at 15 Morgan Street Cwmtillery. She was the daughter of Jesse and Elizabeth Cockayne, originally from the Forest of Dean. She married my grandfather from 15 Morgan St, being married at Blaenau Gwent Church (Baptist) in February 1920. She was just 17 years old. She is standing at the left front, with long hair and a white bow. |
