How old is this photo? I'm not sure but the Ty Doctor Farm can be seen and that was destroyed in the landslide of February 1913.
Anyway its a lovely shot showing both lakes, Top Row and West Bank.


This photo is somthing flying over Abertillery Park, which some of the older generation might find interesting, it was taken about 1943/4.

This old time war photo was taken at the rear of the Abertillery Technical School, which as you know is now the Law Courts. It was taken, I believe about 1942/3, it is the Air Raid Wardens for that area, the young lads in the front are what they called their runners who took messages for them about the area, I can only name but a few of them, the one who made a name for himself was Ernie Lewis, the Rugby player and Referee.

Air Training Corps Squadron,it was taken about 1943/ 44,the Headquarters at the time was where the Corner Club is now,I was also in the ATC but after this photo was taken.The photo was taken at RAF Station Stormy Down,near Porthcawl when they were on their Annual Camp.The cadets would be in their teens at the time,I can put a name to most of them.

The three photos below are not dated, but around 1930s the location is Gwern Berthi road, possible whitsun walks?





Red Brick Congregation on Sunday School Walks is dated early 1930's - the old man on right (by 2 boys) is Mr Hale, the SS Superintendent (father to Olive and Mrs Nelmes - not sure of Christian name). Next to Mr Hale is Rev Reg Tandy, Circuit Minisiter (in civies!). Albert Overfield - is 1st left in second row. Mr Hale's wife is next to Mrs Nelms who is pushing Olive in wheel chair. Rose Robbins (nee Nottingham) and her sister Phylis; Ivor Hucker - his daughter (Pauline)still lives in Abertillery and is marrried to Robert Griffiths who was postman
Other names are, Cynthia and Gwen Stapleton, Tony Davies, Geoffrey Davies, Val Perkins, Jean and Mrs Meredith, Maureen Janes, Marilyn Holmes, Val Bateman, Jim Tippins, Doreen Williamson and Edith Davies.

Some more names sent in: Mr. Hale, the SS (and I hope that's sunday school) superintendent is George Thomas Hale, his wife Hannah Mercy (Shearn). Great Aunt Olive is being pushed by Evelyn Hale (married to Reginald Nelmes).
