Flying
Concrete It's not all bouquets and roses on this restoration
lark, as we found out this year. Whilst travelling to South Wales, a piece of
concrete jumped out in front of us and, despite all efforts to avoid it, it won
the fight and we came out the worst. The damaged area was the front lower
panel. As for the piece of concrete, well it is still on the run, so be aware
if you see any pieces of concrete on the roadside, it could be the one.

It wasn't long before we had the old panel off, exposing the
cooling pipes and air system.
|
We were
lucky to have a local body shop that used the old panel as a template, and
produced a nice new one for us.

|
| With new panel fitted, the job was looking good. The chassis leg
was extended by eight inches so that we only needed a small hole cut out for
the towing eye. |
With
newly sprayed panel in place, all that was left to do was rivets and number
plate. Note the fire extinguisher converted into a compressed air
cylinder. |
