| Cwmtillery
made the short trip to neighbours Old T's for this Division 2 League game on
Saturday and came away with 38-0 victory. The game never really got started with many players missing for both sides and lack of match practice and continuity playing its part. Kevin Meredith was first to register on the scoreboard for Cwmtillery with a darting run through the home defence to score under the posts, which Captain for the day, Mark Williams converted. Next to score was prop Craig Yemm who crashed over from 5m wide out (0-12). Scrum half Mark Perrett was quick to capatalise on a poor home clearance and reacted quickest to pounce for another unconverted try.(0-17) and the half was rounded off when centre Meredith supported well after a long weaving run by winger Gareth Samuals which Williams converted to take Cwmtillery into a 0-24 lead at half time. The second half continued much the same as the first, with the visitors lacking any drive or cohension and continued to make the game a scrappy affair. Cwmtillery added to their first half scores when prop Yemm crossed for his second try followed by fullback Williams who took a crash ball at pace and powered through to cross under the posts, both tries he converted. On this performance, Cwmtillery have a lot of work to put in to maintain they drive for the League and their forthcoming semi-final appearance in the District Cup. Cwmtillery's next league encounter is home to Cwmcarn Utd. in a fortnights time. |
