Cwmtillery continued with they impressive league form with an away win at
Pontllanfraith 2nds running in 6 tries in the process with man of the match
being full back Mark Williams with a total of 21 points from a try and 2
penalties and 5 sweetly taken conversions from wide out. Cwmtillery opened the scoring in the 6min with winger Damian Attwell crossing in the corner from a scrum 10m out, Williams converted and Attwell scored again shortly afterwards this time with all the side involved in the movement in what was exciting rugby to watch, Williams again converted. (0 -14). With the Pont scrum under intense pressure and beginning to tire, the result of the much appreciated hard work put in by development officer Ron Shottle, they started to give away penalties which Williams was only too happy to slot over and pushed the score to 0-20. Williams was again on the score sheet minutes later, this time from a lineout Williams crashed through the two centers to go over between the posts and convert his own try.(0-27). With injury time on the clock, Cwmtillery took a quickly taken tap penalty which took the home side by surprise and fed the ball out to center Gareth Davies to cross over in the corner. HT 0 - 32 The second half was a low scoring half for the visitors and it was not until the 60min that the first points were scored, when again good hands by the back line fed winger Tony Finney to cross over under the posts, Williams converted. (0-39) To they credit, Pont never gave up and their persistance paid off late in the game with a try and conversion of they own, but the final word came from new backrow player Jonathon Price, who had an excellent game around the park and was well rewarded for his support play when he crossed over for a try of his own, needless to say, Williams converted.
